Volunteers play a critical role in the success and enjoyment of our programs. Creating this Station Master role is one step toward deeper involvement by volunteers in camp activities.
What is a Station Master? A Station Master is a volunteer teacher/leader who guides campers through hands-on discovery using STEM and STEAM activities developed by NASA’s GLOBE program. Activities are designed to create citizen science explorers that help campers better understand their environment and the world around them.
This is a fun and engaging program for youth and adults alike! In this training program you will learn the basic elements of the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) program. You will have the option to complete the protocols in one or more of the four GLOBE elements: Atmosphere; Biosphere; Hydrosphere and Pedosphere (soil). Through hands-on learning, you will explore activities provided in order to lead groups during Camp Wa-Ri-Ki’s Spring/Summer sessions.
By participating in this program, you have an opportunity to introduce and enhance a camper’s learning about our fragile environment. You will make a real difference in the global science community by contributing data from Camp Wa-Ri-Ki. Lastly, you will ignite an exciting sense of exploration and discovery in each and every camper you lead! Plus – you get this really cool program badge to wear as a sign of your commitment and expertise in outdoor education programs!
In order to serve as a Station Master, you must participate in each of the following training sessions. To enhance your learning and understanding of the GLOBE Goes to Camp program and activities, you will be sent e-materials and internet links to review prior to each session. Please mark your calendars today so you don’t miss any of the fun!
To review the protocols please see the overview sheet or visit the GLOBE website at https://www.globe.gov/get-trained/protocol-etraining/protocol-requirements

Camp Wa-Ri-Ki is pleased to partner with NASA GLOBE Goes to Camp to offer campers new and exciting ways to explore the great outdoors.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with and in some cases lead activities related to the programs offered this summer. You do not need to be a scientist or professional teacher! You just need to bring your willingness to learn and lead. We will provide trainings, so you have a better understanding of each session’s lessons and evaluation methods.
If you are 15 years or older we encourage you to become a Station Master. Some session volunteers may be eligible for a modest stipend (depending on funding). Thank you for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
