Pre-giving starts this week — September 9th…

Here at Camp Wa-Ri-Ki we are always striving to provide the best experience for all of our camp-goers. From children’s events, to adult retreats, family getaways, and more, there is something for everyone here!

If you are looking to really make an impact, you can make a donation to our campaign on September 19th between 9am and 10am. Whoever receives the most individual donations during that hour will receive an additional $1,000 prize. There are so many possibilities for what we could do with this additional funding!  Pre-giving starts September 9th, and our major day of giving is coming up on September 19th. Be sure to mark your calendar! Learn more about this campaign and consider making a donation!

This year has been great for the camp. We’ve made some exciting improvements to our campground and hosted some awesome events. Most recently we have updated our conference room, which is the perfect location for groups coming here to camp! Check out our post discussing this exciting project and see new images of the space.

As we move towards the last part of the year we are committed to our goal of growing our camp in order to provide more exciting experiences for children. According to The Washington Post, did you know that the average American child spends between 5 and 8 hours a day in front of a screen? Do you need help encouraging your children to unplug? Our hope with our camp is to give children an immersive experience in nature that encourages physical activity and connecting with fellow peers. We need your help to continue our growth!

Donations to Camp Wa-Ri-Ki will help us with all of our goals, but most importantly, to help provide an outdoor experience that offers optimal development of at-risk youth and our communities. To further prove our dedication to these goals, we are proud to announce that we recently earned a Gold Seal of Transparency. Our development director Barbara McCullough-Jones spoke on this milestone, saying “As Kiwanis Camp Wa-Ri-Ki continues to grow we are achieving many important benchmarks such as earning Guidestar’s Gold Seal of Transparency. It gives donors and campers alike confidence we are being good stewards of the camp’s programs and property.”

Would you like to help us achieve our goal? One of the best ways to do so is to get involved with our GiveMore24 Campaign! Each year we participate in this campaign, and this year, we’ve set our fundraising goal at $7,000. You can help us reach our goal by donating to the campaign starting September 9th!

Our Vision & Your Vision for Camp Wa-Ri-Ki

We recently took a growth survey to gather thoughts from local citizens, past renters, volunteers, and facebook friends.  We will publish more about it soon, but here is a preliminary look at some of the answers:

We asked:  “How Important Are The Following Features?”

Camp Wa-Ri-Ki Growth Survey

Above chart shows some of the vision survey participants have for Camp Wa-Ri-Ki as tallied in August of this year.

Your generous donations will help us continue to grow our programs and continue to support our youth and local communities. Our Board President Valerie Schaffroth sums up our vision perfectly, explaining that:

“Kiwanis Camp Wa-Ri-KI has a history of community involvement by supporting or providing children and families outdoor experiences by working with school district outdoor programs, Kiwanis leadership trainings, camp Nature Day events and local faith-based youth groups. Our 18 acres facility allows you to enjoy the quietness and calming effects of nature, play in the Washougal River, and explore the forest. Camp Wa-Ri-Ki is managed by a board of volunteers that want to make sure youth engage with nature, experience the outdoors and have an opportunity to develop a passion for outdoor careers and care of our planet.”

If you have given in the past or are considering giving this year, we cannot thank you enough. We encourage you to share our mission with family and friends as well! The more people that are aware of our camp and our campaign, the closer we will get to reaching our goal. If you cannot make a donation, you can always share us on social media to help spread the word. Your help in any form is greatly appreciated.

Most importantly, we hope to see you and your family at Camp Wa-Ri-Ki soon! Check out our events list to see what we have planned for the rest of 2019.
