Early November we held a Board retreat. It was a very lively event with lots of
discussion about many things. Below you can read about some of the happenings from
our retreat. The Board holds a retreat every year to facilitate growth and understanding
of camp operations and rentals. One bonus of holding a retreat is we get to know each
other better. This helps us run efficient and productive Board meetings.

We invite you to join us at our December 18th Board meeting to learn more about Camp
and becoming a Board Member. We will hold our Annual Meeting at 6 PM on January
13, 2025. Location will be determined soon.

We reviewed our events from this year. The standouts were hosting Cape Horn -Skye
School students for the Solar Eclipse in April. It was a huge success and our
relationship with Cape Horn Skye continues to grow.

We had a very successful Easter Egg Hunt for the community. Over 100 kids and
parents attended. Three Local Businesses provided lunch. There were about 6,000
eggs “hidden around the field with a separate location for toddlers. Kudos to Autumn
Geoff and Autumn’s kids for preparing all the eggs.

Our Nature Day in August was a huge success with about 60 kids and parents
participating. Activities included a bouncy house just for fun. The nature stations
included panning for gold, (erosion understanding), Animal tracking, animal scat and of
course Pinecone Bird Feeders. New this year was a scavenger hunt that was very
informative. Autumn put together a booklet for kids to complete during the day. Kudos to
Autumn and Geoff.

The rentals at camp contribute the most to our ongoing costs. We had a few new
groups this year including a high school band that was participating in the Rose Parade
in Portland. Our renters include faith-based groups, Key Club and Kiwanis groups, and
Lifeline which rents four times a year. These groups filled out our schedule.

Kiwanis Camp WaRiKi is thriving after losing so much business during COVID. We are
almost fully booked with groups for the summer of 2025.
