Nature Club Registration Form

Registration is Required…. download our form here (PDF).

The program is free, and open to anyone who is interested in getting outside and exploring — only requiring that you apply to form a club.  We suggest family members join and form a Nature Explore Club along with friends and neighbors. Club Application forms are available online (PDF) or by contacting John Givvines at 360-891-5001 or jtgivvines@fs.fed.us.

Once you form a Nature Explore Club, free backpacks are available at the U.S. Forest Service, 10600 N.E. 51st Circle, Vancouver and also for daily check-out at the Mount St. Helens Coldwater Science and Learning Center.  The packs are provided by Columbia Sportswear, REI, Backyard Birdshop, Leave No Trace, Waterfront Press, and Jan Oliva.

Camp WA-RI-KI is located on 20+ Acres nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains along the scenic Washougal River and offers many ways to interact with nature, free of all those electronic devices. Use the Google Map below for directions:

About the New Partnership

“We’re so pleased to be working with great groups and generous individuals to provide an outdoor experience on the 20-plus acres of Camp Wa-Ri-Ki as local area families and friends come together to unplug and get outside”, said Donna Thomas, President of the Camp Board.  “The Camp is going through a growth phase, having recently been awarded funding via the Furstenburg Foundation, has hired a Director, Phyllis Goldhammer, and held a couple of fundraisers, so we’re happy to be reaching out and partnering with other organizations as we give back to the community”.

“Vancouver Summer Adventure works to encourage kids and families to Eat Smart, Play Hard, Experience Nature, Learn, and Serve all summer long,” commented Anne Johnston, RN Clark County Public Health. “We are very excited to partner with the Parks Foundation of Clark County and the US Forest Service to expand the Nature Explore Club as it perfectly aligns with Vancouver Summer Adventure’s goal of getting families outside and experiencing the nature around them.”

“Helping families and communities understand how nature matters and provides is core to the Forest Service mission,” said Garth Smelser, Deputy Forest Supervisor. “The Nature Explore Club facilitates these community engagement opportunities, and we feel very lucky to be involved in a partnership making these connections happen.”

This new event is in cooperation with the four organizations listed above.
